Nice old airfield with good facilities .was active in ww2. aircraft engineering facilities. airfield has many private aircraft coming and going . also has a flying school for fixed wing and helicopters.
Very nice local aerodrome. ILS available.
Cranfield Aerodrome, one of the very few in the UK that still retains all of its original airstrips and layout from WWII. This aerodrome was made famous by the Frank Spencer flying lesson in the popular tv series 'Some Mothers Do Av'Em' filmed at Cranfield. There is a very nice and relaxing airfield cafe here and is very much worth a visit. I have been to Cranfield twice and you get a sense of the extreme size of how it was in WWII. The modern day aerodrome is vast and varied including a University on one side. My personal score is 10/10.
Amy Frost, isn't that illegal? Also nice place to go flying.
1800 metres of gently undulating concrete. Half way down the runway was expecting to see a sign saying "Hidden dips", but on take-off those humps provide the much needed extra lift like the launchpad on the sharp end of an aircraft carrier. Better than a roller-coaster, come and enjoy for 10 a go and have the nice Lady in the Tower talk to you all inclusive. Welcoming and Friendly. Next visit I'll even take time to check out the Cafe Pacific, so named from it's previous pre-tsunami location.
